Another good night’s sleep – must be we like Mississippi! Beautiful day again – breezy though. As we go down for breakfast we notice a lot more families here today – they say they have come for the parades. It seems last night’s parade was just the first of many. We have three things on our agenda today: beach, blog, and finding the trees described in the AAA Tour Book. But there is a tangled mass of beads from last night. Okay – let’s add something else to the list: beads.
What a mess!
It takes us a long time to sort through all the beads and try to get them into some type of manageable and meaningful order.
What are we ever going to do with all these beads? We fill up a grocery bag full and plan to share them at a future Mardi Gras party!!
We look across the street and are lured into the beach and water. We change into our bathing suits and are looking forward to some “down” time.
We can’t wait to get there and opt to try our luck walking this time. After a bit of traffic we make it across the first two lanes. There is a little park-like setting here in the median with some trees and some tree stumps. But wait – those stumps have these beautiful carvings. This is it! One of the places the book talked about. After Hurricane Katrina an artist came here to make something beautiful out of the devastation of the live oaks. Of course we are taking pictures and feel amazingly lucky to see these pieces of art.
The wind picking up and cooling things off a bit but we are determined we will have beach time.
There are few people here again and we put our blanket down behind a sand dune hoping for some break from the wind. We walk the beach and enjoy the sun but the wind is relentless. After an hour or so we give up and go back to our room.
We can sit in the sun coming into our room and work on the blog. This could be fun but with all the photos we take: 2 Nikon Cameras, 2 cell phone cameras, 1 Hero 5 GoPro, and 2 Nikon underwater cameras – media management is more than challenging. Good thing we brought a 4 terabyte hard drive to off–load all of our media.
Nevertheless we are determined to keep blogging in hopes our friends and family can enjoy our adventures. Wow where did the time go? We have accomplished all on our agenda. That’s weird but feels good!
The evening view from our hotel.
Beautiful!
