Day Ten

Although we are reluctant to leave Albuquerque, we are also excited to be pushing our trip further west.  As we are leaving we notice more of the neo-Pueblo homes with flat roofs and straight line architecture.  We will be taking I-40 West and the bridges have some interesting artwork on them.  The Unser family of race car drivers has their very own road named after them!

The I-40 is a very wavy road offering beautiful vistas.  There are many signs pointing the Route 66.

Livestock and ranches share the land with stark housing options. It is amazing how people adapt to

their locale and environments.

The rail system is thriving here and the miles of rail are staggering.  Trains everywhere!

The Continental Divide and Route 66 share an exit on I-40.  The Continental DIVIDE!!!!!

More trains!

Route 66 and the marketing opportunities offered by the historic roadway.

And here we are in Arizona!  And that is a good thing????

Dale had to get this photo and stood way too close to this sign!

So much to see and do!  But the roads so rough and full of pot holes and rough texture.

Dale’s wrist was vibrating so much he had to take his watch off because it was irritating

his wrist and making it sore from the road vibrations.

In the middle of nowhere – a power plant!

    Snow?

Since we have left Roswell – there are oddly shaped clouds following us!

What?????????????????????

Definitely snow in Flagstaff!

An then there was no snow!

The mountains are amazing!  Lake Mead is filling up very slowly though.  Nevada!!!

The first signs of the Las Vegas Strip, casinos, and of course, the clouds.

We have arrived and opted to stay off the strip and away from all the noise and crowds.

Time to call the kids and have some dinner!  But first we stop to say hi to Minion, our grand puppy!

Siena Restaurant and Deli – great Italian food, good company and a lovely evening!
