Day 9 – September 17, 2018
Waking to the sounds of a full-body slam against the door is a bit startling – and then we laugh. Nox wants to say good morning – or some equivalent to get out of bed and play with me! This was around 5:30 so we just rolled over and then there was that noise again, and again, and again. She is a persistent one! Finally, she gave up and we settled in for a brief respite.
Dale gets up to work on photo and file management for the blog. Nancy starts writing some more and trying to catch up.
Katri goes into work early so she can come home for the afternoon. Jason goes into work a bit later and will get out early as well. We have the pups to ourselves and they want to play. Tricky trying to use a computer with a puppy crawling over your back and using the touch screen!
All is well – Kate comes home starving so we get ready to go to SkinnyFats for a bite. This restaurant is in Downtown Summerlin and easy to access – but parking is difficult today so we end up in the public parking lot and walk a while. It’s another beautiful sunny day, in the low 90’s and about zero humidity.
The menu has a healthy side and a happy side – thus SkinnyFats. We all opt for the healthy side (didn’t see that coming) and await our lunch.
Smoke in a Bowl (Agave BBQ chicken, peppers, onions, pineapple, black bean salsa, cilantro you, jasmine rice)
Blue Balsamic (Shaved NY strip, spinach salad, cherry tomato, red onion, bleu cheese, basil, balsamic)
Turnip Tacos (Filet mignon, pico, cilantro, habanero lime crema, wheat tortilla)
All very good!
Nox broke one of her tags so to Petco for a new one. We gas up the car and stop at Smith’s, a grocery store to get the fixings for a potato salad. The plan is to grill out tonight!
Back at the house we let the dogs out and then plan to meet Jason.
As new homeowners, Katri and Jason are looking for ideas to update their house. We are off to Reverence, a new development featuring seven model homes.
These homes have all the modern amenities, some practical, some not so much – and the finishes are eye-catching. After spending a good deal of time here we head back to the house. The kids head out to Trader Joes for fresh meat and we start preparing the potato salad. Their good friend, Peter, will be joining us for dinner – we haven’t seen him since their wedding. It will be good to catch up!
Cheeseburgers, sausage, pork, potato salad, baked zucchini – so good – we chow down before we can even get photos! Oops – but it was so-o good!!!
A little weary from all our happenings we head upstairs for a good night’s sleep.
