Day Eight – September 16, 2018

Day Eight – September 16, 2018

Some more scratching at the door and then silence.  Sort of waiting for the other paw to ask for entry!

Kate has a seminar to attend so she is up and out fairly early.  We have a quick breakfast and the guys go to Lowe’s for a hot water recirculation pump thing.  This is to get hot water to the upstairs showers faster. The dogs and I clean up some, do some more laundry, and catch up on e-mails.  Nox was so unhappy that her folks were gone – she started whining and then a sort of crying/howling.  That didn’t last too long as she took the guard command post on the stairway landing to watch over the house!

A short time later the guys were back and in the installation mode.  This doesn’t seem to take very long and they are done and satisfied with their work.

Snack on leftovers and lunch meat and cheeses for lunch.  More playing with the dogs .

The weather is perfect – sunny, warm, blue skies and low humidity.

Kate returns and show us Nox is truly a water puppy – she likes to bite the irrigation sprinkler heads as they go off and she also likes to try to the bite water from the hose – the game of course is to make her run all over the yard chasing the water.  Might tire her out?  Not really.

We are off to Bass Pro Shop.  This store is huge with stuffed animals (like real animals) everywhere and everything imaginable for the outdoor enthusiast.

Katri and I are looking for capris and the guys are off looking for mermaids.  Mermaids?  In Nevada there are casinos everywhere – and adjoining the Bass Pro Store is a 20-foot fish tank filled with assorted salt water fish and skates.  Every 15 minutes there is a show with a real live mermaid!  There are cushy seats around the tank as well as convenient observation spots for kids to sit and watch.

A diver check out the equipment.

The show is quite entertaining!

Back in Bass Pro it’s time to try on some clothes – Dale gets some new shorts and a couple of cotton shirts and Kate and I get those capris.  As we are leaving the fitting rooms a woman with a walker is trying to get into a fitting room but the walker is impeding her.  She is determined to try on those clothes and says “no one will look at a woman my age” and starts to disrobe.  Kate and I stand in the doorway with our backs to her to try to shield her as she indeed tries on clothes.  She doesn’t have any luck though and as we are leaving we find her husband looking for her – he appears relieved she didn’t buy anything.

So – standing in the check-out line we wait and wait and wait and wait for about 20 minutes as there as two cashiers busy with two couples.  The couple in front of us bought all kinds of clothes – and some outdoor items and paid cash – over $2,000.00 worth.  The couple at the other cashier bought all kinds of camping gear and also paid cash.  Gotta love Vegas!

Back to the house to let the dogs out and then onto Red Rock Casino for dinner and a few slots.
