Day Sixteen

We start the day with a good breakfast and then decide to head south to continue our adventure.

It is pretty flat through here. With some commerce along the way and wind turbines for miles.

There is no mistaking the importance of oil.  Looks like someone lives next to the oil rig.

The terrain begins to change.

A milestone coming up for our Dodge Caravan!

Still traveling south!  But at a slower rate now.

Who knew you could go for Welfare in Texas?

Large culverts for lots of rain water.  Texas does not appear dry.  We head through the Rio Grande Valley.

Lots more evidence of the importance of oil here.  And finally -a McDonald’s sign!

Cattle ranches and oil!

Spring in Texas – the trees are greening up and starting to show their leaves.  Beautiful skies!

  And then the cityscape.

The bugs are really a daily challenge!  Trying to get photos out the front windshield is tough!

We have never been to Corpus Christi so we decide to check it out!  It is still 3 hours to South Padre Island and we have traveling 6 1/2 hours already.

Oil and a beautiful church – beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

This seems like a place we would like to explore a bit more – so we decide to spend the night here.
